A fierce encounter has broken out between Indian security forces and suspected terrorists in the Dudu-Basantgarh region of Udhampur district in Jammu & Kashmir. The operation began earlier today after intelligence inputs suggested the presence of militants in the densely forested region.
According to initial media reports, one Indian Army soldier has sustained injuries during the intense exchange of fire. The situation remains tense as additional forces from the Indian Army, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and Jammu & Kashmir Police have been deployed to the area to contain the threat and neutralize the militants.
The area has been cordoned off, and combing operations are underway. Locals have been advised to stay indoors as a precautionary measure. The encounter is still ongoing at the time of this report.
This development comes amid heightened security concerns in the Union Territory, especially in regions like Pahalgam and other sensitive border areas.
